Getting mobile in the community
Being a responsive and local business that is focused on helping the local communities of our customers, we have a keen interest in supporting a wide range of community based events, charities and activities.
For the last 10 years we have been keenly involved with many diverse projects and campaigns from fund raising and sponsorship to feature days in our stores. We are keen to continue this tradition in the future and to help support community groups and charities local to our stores or to our Head Office. Although we can only help so many worthwhile causes during any one campaign period, we will be pleased to hear from any organisation which feels we can help them and will consider their cause.
What are we currently up to?
Intek show that they have a big HEART when it comes to supporting local charities.
Intek has teamed up with national charity The British Heart Foundation and at a localised level has planned a number of awareness days in conjunction with the charity. Already raising over £300 for the British Heart Foundation as part of the Intek ‘Getting Mobile in the Community’ initiative, Newton Abbot, Torquay and St Austell have all benefited with many more events in the pipeline.

Intek realises the importance of good health and wellbeing in the community. because of this has teamed up with a number of sports clubs and associations over the past few weeks. Intek are proud to be associated with Paignton Pilgrims F.C, Camborne Rugby Club and are in the process of launching the first ever Intek F.C - Watch this space for further updates!
Intek Join in the Carnival Party!
Listen for the Intek sounds as we hit the Paignton green with Heart FM to support the 2010 Torbay Carnival Week. Come on down and join the Intek team as they mix it up with local charities and the Heart Angels bringing together a real party atmosphere.
Shaun Willis Abseil
Shaun Willis part of the team here at Intek successfully completed a charity abseil on Sunday 14th July on behalf of Children’s Hospice South West raising a fantastic £250 Well done to Shaun on his efforts and its great to see you back here in one piece
Intek goes Wild at Paignton Zoo
Its not just the human kind that we care about here at Intek as we welcome the two newest members to the Intek family. Intek are proud to sponsor two beautiful Sumatran Tiger Cubs and a slightly scarier Lowland Gorilla and are very proud to be associated with Paignton Zoo. As the Tigers play and the Gorilla eats... and eats some more... and some more! at Intek we are working hard to come up with more original ways that we can keep 'Getting Mobile in the Community'

Pastors stay in touch on the streets
Christian volunteers have been given mobile phones to help their campaign against street crime. The scheme looks after vulnerable people and helps party goers behave more positively by listening and helping them.
The phones will be used by the teams to connect each other and with a 'night net' of CCTV, police, paramedics and doormen. To find out more, visit ,www.streetpastors.org.uk.

The British Heart foundation has been reaping the rewards of the Intek fundraising and awareness days in support of the charity. It is not just about popping a penny in a collection pot as Intek strive to raise awareness of the great work that the charity does through posters, web and local media promotion! Watch out for a charity fun day coming your way...
